As per the current VCV Selection Policy, all positions in the Selection panel were spilled and a new selection panel has been formed for the selection of all VCV O50s and O55s representative teams in 2025.
After feedback from multiple parties and with agreement from the current COS (Andrew Wheeler) and the current Australian O50s selector (Craig Gislingham) it was agreed that greater input from the captains would improve the selection process.
With the above in mind, the selection panel will now consist of ANDREW WHEELER (Chairman of Selectors), CRAIG GISLINGHAM (Australian Selector O50s) and the captain of the teams being picked.
For examples:
In the case of the O50s 1st XI, the selectors will be Andrew Wheeler, Craig Gislingham, Andrew Sharp and the 2nd XI captain.
In the case of the O50s 2nd XI, the selectors will be the same as above and the 3rd XI captain will also be included.
In the case of the 3rd XI, the selectors will be Andrew Wheeler, Craig Gislingham, the 2nd XI captain, the 3rd XI captain and the 4th XI captain.
In the case of the 4th XI, the selectors will be Andrew Wheeler, Craig Gislingham, the captain of the 3rd XI and the captain of the 4th XI.
A big thank you to the selectors and to the people from the various regions that were part of the selection process for the 2024 season.
We also have a couple of new members on the VCV O50s committee, Anthony Morrison (Mozz). Mozz will replace Scott Taylor as the communications officer for the 2025 season and both Mozz and Jimmy D will oversee all communications either via email, via the website or via Facebook.
Matt Grybas will take over the role of Competition Manager from Michael Whitehead. Michael will still be around to support Matt over the next few months and when Matt feels comfortable in the role Michael will move into the O60s committee.
Mozz, Matt and Jimmy can be contacted at VCVic50s@gmail.com
Congratulations to both Mick McGough and to Andrew Wheeler for their new roles in the O55s Australian set-up. Both the guys will be heading up to Mackay to help support the Australian O55s X1 against the O55s New Zealand National team and an exciting new Australian Indigenous XI.
Mick will take up the role as scorer and Wheels will be the Team manager and a tour selector.
The appointment of Victorians to these roles shows the continued appreciation that other states have of how VCV currently manage our selection process and our people.
The O55s Australian team to play in the Tri-series will be announced very soon, so stay tuned.
